Introducing AcuDart

Our goal is to provide the most accurate

home-based tick-borne disease screening tests.

Introducing AcuDart

Partnering with industry leading laboratories to create the most accurate tick-borne disease testing from the comfort of home.

AcuDart Tests are Technically Superior

There are two reasons why AcuDart tests are more accurate than competitors. Our tests

use recombinant proteins, and our tests look for antibodies to more species of each disease.

Recombinant Proteins

AcuDart stands for Accurate Detection of Antibodies using Recombinant Technology. AcuDart tests use recombinant proteins instead of proteins from natural sources. Many lower cost competing tests use whole cell proteins which can lead to cross reactivity and inaccuracy. By using recombinant technology, AcuDart is able to create DNA sequences that would not naturally exist under normal circumstances and environmental conditions, leading to more sensitive and specific tests.

ISOLATE THE GENES

Pure genes are stored and ready to be cloned by researchers.

EXPRESS THE GENES

The genes of interest are put into a host cell and expressed as a new protein. This is the so-called “recombinant protein.”

PURIFY THE PROTEINS

The protein of interest is isolated and purified, and the non-proteinaceous materials are removed.

SPRAY THE PROTEINS

The purified recombinant proteins are sprayed in precise amounts onto specific locations on a membrane strip.

More Species

It's simple. If a test looks for antibodies to more disease causing species, it will be more accurate. Most tests detect antibodies to only one or two species, leading to an accuracy of only about 50%. AcuDart's multi-species approach is more expensive, but results in a much more accurate test, as well as the likelihood that you will find the correct diagnosis early in your journey. Many of our patients avoid the need for further testing and the expense that can come from misdiagnosis. Moreover, because the AcuDart tests detects antibodies to multiple species, the cost per species tested is actually much lower than competing tests.

The AcuDart Lyme disease test detects antibodies to nine species,

which is far more than competing tests.

Greater Accuracy

AcuDart tests are among the most accurate tests available for the major tick-borne illnesses. Their sensitivity of just above 83% is considerably higher than other methods such as PCR and the ELISA/Western blot two-tier testing protocol that is recommended by the CDC and followed by many commercial laboratories. AcuDart is also superior to specialty labs that focus on tick-borne illnesses.

The only tests that have a higher sensitivity than AcuDart are the ImmunoBlots from IGeneX. However, IGeneX tests are more expensive and cannot be purchased without physician authorization.
