AcuDart tests have a sensitivity greater than 90%, making them more accurate than any other DTC test or tests from commercial laboratories such as LabCorp or Quest. The AcuDart Lyme Disease Screening Test is the most comprehensive and accurate test available for Lyme because it identifies antibodies to the following nine Borrelia species: B. burgdorferi B31, B. burgdorferi 297, B. californiensis, B. mayonii, B. afzelii, B. garinii, B. spielmanii, B. bissettii and B. valaisianaa. Most Lyme disease tests look for only one species, B. burgdorferi B31, and therefore miss many positive cases.

Lyme disease is a bacterial infection caused by the bite of an infected deer tick. It is one of the fastest-growing infectious diseases in the United States, affecting nearly 500,000 people annually across all 50 states. Untreated Lyme disease can produce a wide range of symptoms, depending on the stage of infection. These include fever, rash, facial paralysis, and arthritis.

The AcuDart Lyme Disease test detects antibodies to more Lyme-causing species than any other test, resulting in a much lower cost per species tested.

Collecting Your Blood

All we need are a few drops.

That's right! A few drops of blood is all we need to test for nine species of Lyme causing Borrelia. Our sample collection card is an alternative collection method, similar to an SST tube. Red blood cells are separated without a centrifuge, enabling the laboratory to perform tests on dry blood.

Is this methodology accurate? Yes! The test results have been cross-validated against standard finger prick and venous draws.

AcuDart tests detect antibodies to multiple species of Lyme Borrelia.

B. burgdorferi B31

The B31 strain is the most well-known and extensively researched strain of B. burgdorferi.

B. afzelii

Borrelia afzelii is common in Europe. It is transmitted primarily by Ixodes ricinus ticks.

B. garinii

Borrelia garinii is common in Europe and Asia. Ixodes ricinus ticks are the primary vectors.

B. californiensis

Borrelia californiensis is a species of bacteria that was discovered in 2007.

B. spielmanii

Borrelia spielmanii was first isolated in 1993 in the Netherlands.

B. valaisiana

Borrelia valaisiana is common in Central Europe and can cause neuroborreliosis.

B. burgdorferi 297

Borrelia burgdorferi 297 is a human cerebrospinal fluid isolate and is a commonly used strain for studying ospC expression.

B. mayonii

Borrelia mayonii was first identified in a Minnesota resident in 2013. It can cause nausea, vomiting, and large, widespread rashes.

B. bissettii

Borrelia bissettii has been reported in patients in Europe. It can also be found in woodrats that are infected with B. burgdorferi s.s.

Does insurance cover Acudart Lyme disease testing?

Currently, insurance does not cover the cost of the AcuDart At-Home Lyme Test, and FSA/HSA payments are not accepted. AcuDart strives to offer competitively priced tests, often lower than the expenses associated with traditional healthcare visits.

Who should consider AcuDart At-Home Lyme testing, and can it detect co-infections?

This test is recommended for individuals who have been in tick-prone areas, experienced tick bites, or exhibit symptoms such as fever, chills, fatigue, and anemia commonly associated with Babesiosis.

While this test focuses on Lyme disease, AcuDart offers a Disease Screening Test Panel designed to detect multiple co-infections from a single sample.

What sample is required for AcuDart Lyme Disease testing, and how do I collect it properly?

A small blood sample, collected via a simple finger prick, is required for this test. The kit includes step-by-step instructions and all necessary tools for safe and easy at-home sample collection.

What do the results mean, and what should I do if I test positive for Lyme disease?

- Positive Result: Indicates the presence of antibodies to one or more Borrelia species, suggesting past or current exposure. Consult a healthcare provider for further evaluation and treatment options.

- Negative Result: Suggests no detectable antibodies at the time of testing, but early-stage infections or low antibody levels may require follow-up testing if symptoms persist.

How long does it take to get results?

Results are typically available within 3-5 business days (digitally) after the lab receives your sample. You will be notified via a secure portal when your results are ready to view.
